Today our mission team was spread over 6(!) churches. Here’s a snapshot of what it looked like:
St Andrew’s Cronulla
We headed to Cronulla and our team was particularly encouraged by a large elderly congregation. We were invited to 8:30, 10:30 and 5pm services where we preached and shared testimonies.
St Luke’s Miranda
St Luke’s Miranda is our home-base for the week so we got comfy there quick. We were able to be apart of their 8am, 10am, 5pm and 7pm services; preaching, helping out at a youth service and sharing testimonies.
St Luke’s Miranda North
We peached and shared a testimony at Miranda North’s 10am service. This new church plant had a strong core group of parishioners.
St Phil’s Caringbah
St Phil’s Caringbah is a vibrant church with well-established family ministries. We shared testimonies, preached sermons and ran the kid’s and youth programs. We were represented at the 8am, 10am and 6pm services.
St James’ Kurnell
St James proved to be like a country-town parish with 15ish members – who were all delighted to see our presence. We preached and shared a testimony at their 10am service.
Woolooware Shores
Our team was met with spritely enthusiasm as they attended the 5pm Woolooware Shores Retirement Home service.
Over the day we also had a chance to meet as a team and share lunch. Later in the day, the gals had a cheeky coffee/beach chill in the afternoon. It’s been a big day but we’re already so encouraged by partnering with the faithful servants in the Shire East area.
Over this week we hope that you can get to know (and pray for us). So now it’s your chance to…
Meet a Team Member:
One of our team leaders, Nick, is in fourth year and married to Danae who also in fourth year.
Here’s what he looks like:
Here’s a story he shared from our time at Miranda today:
After preaching that Jesus is the only way to the Father at Miranda 8am, an elderly man who claims to be a Christian came up to me and said that what I had said made him uncomfortable. He asked me if I meant that all Muslims and Hindus will be going to hell. I pointed him back to the words that Jesus had said, that he is the only way to God. The man replied saying that he thinks we would be surprised who will be in heaven. Please pray for him that he would take seriously Jesus’ words!
Please keep us in your prayers this week – we’re really looking forward to see what God will do!
