Some things we did:
The first two sessions of the Jesus is talks were held today at the civic centre, known as ‘The Hub’ to locals of the area. Ben Pfahlert spoke convincingly about the legitimacy of Jesus to two groups of people and there were many signs that people were moved by what he had to say, as conversations continued long after the sessions had finished. It was great to see a number of local people bringing along friends, a great answer to prayer.
Some things surprise:
As we share stories, it is always a pleasant surprise to hear of the commonalities that we find to strike up conversation and put others at ease. The things we have in common are so often helpful in allowing us to get to the issues that matter. Give thanks for these conversations that spur us on.
At today’s session, There were many who were willing to engage in conversations afterwards with the team and are interested in returning over the next two days, to hear more of what Ben has to say. Pray that God would give us wisdom and courage in engaging them as we share with them the true Jesus. Pray also that their eyes would be opened to the truth as well.
Some things to pray for:
For conversations taking place in Berkeley and Albion Park Rail, where other sects have been working hard to get traction. Please pray that the truth will prevail and that people would put their trust in the one true God.
As conversations continue in the local shopping centre, please pray that we will be both respectful and bold as we approach people and seek to engage them in conversation and invite them to events.
As we spend more time in the community, the needs of the people become more apparent, the need for people to know who Jesus is, and that the assurance he brings is all we need. Please Pray for the students at Oak Flats High School that God would provide for their needs, that God will be merciful to those who have opted out/don’t come to scripture and provide an opportunity for them to hear the gospel, and for those that come to the scripture seminar to be encouraged by the gospel and emboldened to proclaim the gospel among friends.
Some things coming up:
SRE assemblies continue across the local schools. Praise God for the positive reception we have had so far and Please ask God for the teams heading out, that they will be engaging with the kids at these schools as they present Jesus is our Saviour. Ask also that their presence would be an encouragement to the scripture teachers who regularly teach.
Please continue to pray for the team, as the week wears on and we feel the limits of our bodies and minds. Ask our great God and Father to strengthen us by his spirit for the good work prepared for us.
