Scripture, scripture and more scripture. St Matts is blessed with a wonderful ministry in our public schools, ranging from Pennant Hills High to Balkham Hills High. Amongst the different schools there are Special Religious Education (SRE), Bible study lunch groups and Inter-School Christian Fellowships (ISCF).
The experience of teaching at schools is an eye opening one. Learning to teach the Bible to children in primary schools the riches of Scripture simply but not simplistic is no easy thing! Despite all the excitement of being able to teach the Bible, there are a whole eclectic mix of students ranging from different background. Some are there from Christian backgrounds, some from non-Christian backgrounds sent to simply fill their time. Additional to that, some lessons went up to 80 minutes! We thank God for the teachers and volunteers he has been using before us.
The coffee station ministry went on again today. Today the people seemed a bit shy in coming up to grab a free cuppa. So with some lateral thinking; if they people don’t come to us, we can go to the people! Thanks to the traffic congestion we were able to hand out copies of Luke’s gospel along with a free coffee to the poor cars stuck at the lights.
Please pray for for us tonight as the team runs an Evangelism Training for the Young Adults. As the senior minister Steve shared with us, evangelism is frequently the first thing that can drop off a church’s radar once it has been well established. Please pray for the team tonight as they encourage the youth to think about the great task of proclaiming Christ’s Lordship of all.
Give thanks for…
-Being able to be trained and experience in sharing the gospel at different schools
Please pray for…
– The Evangelism Training tonight run by the team; that it will both train and spur people on towards a passion to reach the lost.
– Please also pray for Lily as she prepares for speaking at a women’s outreach night tomorrow night (more to come tomorrow…)
