Today we headed out to Shoalhaven High School for Scripture. We were blessed to spend most of the day there and presented to one year 7 and two year 9 classes. All of us shared our testimonies, showing to the youth that God works in mysterious and unique ways. That no-one is beyond God’s reach and love, no matter what your past entails.
We opened the floor for questions and to our relief, the youth at all three classes had several questions. It was such a pleasure to see youth grappling with big ideas and to see them wrestling with thoughts such as the Trinity! A big one, that all four of us shared compassionately about, especially regarding its confusion at times.
The main theme throughout all three classes was proving Jesus existence, showing that He is still very much a mystery to some. Several questions revolved around, Why should I believe in someone I haven’t meet or seen? How do we know Jesus really existed? The Bible is just a book, it doesn’t mean anything? Jesus didn’t exist at all, it’s all made up and I believe in God but I don’t believe in Jesus. The team addressed all these tough questions with grace, patience and love. However; we know that it is the word of God that will penetrate these hearts to provide answers and it is this prayer that we found ourselves praying after the classes finished.
That night we headed to two Bible Studies and were encouraged by the brothers and sisters in Christ who were there. It was a pleasure to be able to share in fellowship with them and to see how Christ has worked through their lives. Culburra, whilst being a small town, is filled with Godly men and women, radiating Christ’s love throughout the community.
Prayer
- Praise God for the opportunity to be able to go into a high school and proclaim the word of God.
- Please pray for the non-Christian youth who attended the classes. Pray that their hearts would be softened, that seeds would be planted and that one day that seed will bear glorious fruit.
- Please pray for the Christian youth who attended the classes. Pray that they can confidently proclaim Jesus to all of their peers. Pray for them to be courageous and not to feel threatened or socially excluded for believing in Jesus. Pray that they will lean on each other as brothers and sisters in Christ to support, love and care for each other.
- Please pray for the scripture teachers at Shoalhaven High. They are doing a great job with the youth and it is an important ministry. Please pray for perseverance, patience and love as they proclaim the hope of the Gospel to the youth.
