Mark Drama @ Warrawong
After a week of raising questions and listening to people’s opinion of who Jesus is, it was exciting to introduce people to the real Jesus. Churches all throughout Wollongong combined to produce 10+ performances of the Mark Drama. The Port Kembla & Warrawong Anglican Church provided the performance free of charge, enabling quite a few congregation members to bring their family and friends to meet Jesus.[1] At Figtree Anglican Church, one guy reluctantly came along Saturday night at his mother’s request, yet was so astonished by the story, that he wants to come again tonight to the Dapto performance!

- That God would enable many to receive Christ and his word
- That the performance would encourage many to read the biography of Jesus life for themselves
- For the final performances happening tonight
Jesus Proclaimed
Another way people met Jesus yesterday was through the preaching of His word at the local churches. Many of the guys were given the opportunity to point people to Jesus and declare his word to those whom God had gathered. At Keiraville, Dan pointed us to the heart of Jesus as he hung on the cross, showing that Jesus’ concern was with our salvation and forgiveness, not his revenge or escape. At Port Kembla & Warrawong, Nigel showed how Jesus is irreligious – reminding us that what Jesus requires of us is not our religious works but to listen, believe and love him. At St Michael’s Cathedral, Rob worked hard (preaching at 4 services!) to help people see that true rest is only found in Jesus. The team also shared at Figtree Anglican and St Mark’s West Wollongong.
Jesus at work
One thing that astounded me this week, was seeing and hearing about the many different gatherings that are happening all around the Wollongong region. So great is God’s work, that even when our entire college comes to support the work that is already going on in this region, we still don’t have enough people to cover all the churches or events. It helped remind me just how big our world is, how small I am, but also how big our God is. For right across the region, God is gathering his people, introducing them to Jesus, and transforming them by His Spirit. From the big to the small events, from the planned gatherings to the accidental encounters – Christ is at work rescuing people from death and judgement.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

[1] No, the actor wasn’t the real Jesus in the flesh and blood! He hasn’t returned yet! But the script the actors followed comes from Mark’s gospel, so they met Jesus through his words acted out.
