Heidi (MTC team member) and Ellen, a leader at Figtree’s “Fuel” Youth Bible Study had this moment yesterday afternoon. Then followed furrowed brows as each tried to place the other’s familiar face.
Eventually, Ellen remembered!
“Heidi was one of the leaders that really stood out to me at Kiama Beach Mission”, she said.
Heidi had been part of the Scripture Union Kiama Beach Mission in 2008. Heidi and other female leaders had been braiding high school girls’ hair when Ellen asked her: “Why are you doing this?”
Heidi replied that it was because Jesus had loved her so much, that she and the Beach Mission team wanted to show love to others.
“You probably wouldn’t have been able to tell that I was thinking more about what you said”, Ellen smiled. “But because of that week, I started coming to Youth Group and Church here at Figtree where I became a Christian.”
What an absolute joy at the beginning of this week of Moore Missions: we don’t know what part we are playing in people’s lives, but God knows, and he wants people to come to know him,
“for God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Please pray:
– for Keith as he travels back to Sydney for an appointment today
– for productive preparation today for the rest of the week
And please give thanks for the faithful preaching and testimonies of our team yesterday, and for the joy it is to serve with brothers and sisters in Christ in another context.
