In the morning, our Kids Team visited two local primary schools to run the Scripture assemblies for Years 3-6. Steve gave a short talk about how the doubting Thomas came to believe that Jesus really did rise from the dead. Games were played, and Jordan led everyone to sing “Super Saviour” whilst dressed as Captain America. Some kids were particularly excited to see Captain America at their school, only to be vaguely disappointed he was “fake”.
Meanwhile, another group from our team went to visit the senior residents at St David’s Village, which we had also visited on Tuesday. It was another great opportunity to encourage the elderly and be encouraged by those who continue to steadfastly follow Jesus despite life’s ups and downs.
After lunch, we had some time to debrief and pray as a whole team, as well as to spend some quiet time on our own reflecting upon God’s word and talking to him. More door-knocking and walk-up conversations happened in furtherance of St David’s goal to chat with people from every house in Forestville. (What a great goal to have in seeking to reach Forestville with the good news!)
At night, our resident philosopher David Höhne spoke at the Jesus for Sceptics event at Forestville RSL. He introduced everyone to various philosophers and their philosophies (e.g. the famous Rene Descartes and David Hume). He then explained why Jesus is for Sceptics, and that it is about pursuing truth. Jesus the Son of God came in the flesh and many witnessed and testified to this (John 1:14-18; 1 John 1:1-3). After some impressive Q&A with David, Grace then shared her story of how she shifted from trusting in her own abilities for security in life to trusting Jesus instead for ultimate security – and how that was far better.
Please pray that God would use the various activities of the day for the sake of his glory, and that many hearts would be moved to a saving faith in him.
