Today marks the end of an encouraging mission for all! For the second Sunday in a row we were able to be part of all four Sunday Services at St David’s. This meant another early start with the 8am Prayer Book Service right through to a late finish with the 6:45pm Youth and Young Adults congregation.
In the morning services we heard from Grant who preached from John 6. He encouraged us all to come to Christ, the bread of life and feast on him in our hearts through faith. We were greatly encouraged by the fact that someone who we had bumped into at the Outreach BBQ decided to come to church for the first time as well!
For Kids Church, some team members helped run activities, music and Steve gave a short talk on John 3:16, helping the kids to understand by connecting the ideas to actions. They also gave the kids time to ask silly and serious questions with their ‘hot seat’ segment.
In the evening services Scott preached on John 9, the healing of the man born blind. He helpfully showed us the problem of our own spiritual blindness and our need for Jesus to open our eyes to see him as Lord and Saviour. Please be praying for churchgoers who haven’t yet put their trust in Jesus or for visitors or friends of regulars, that they would have their eyes opened to see Jesus in his fullness and come to him in repentance and faith.
To wrap up, our team had a lovely time at St David’s. As one of our team members pointed out, it was a joy to do mission alongside the church members in Forestville, and not merely do mission for them. We loved partnering with them for the gospel, getting alongside them, hearing of their faith and good deeds and being an encouragement to each other as we strived to see Christ worshipped in their neighbourhood. We now return home with tired eyes and full hearts, praising our good God for his merciful work through the saints in Forestville.
