Christchurch mission began in earnest yesterday with three different services spread over two sites.
The two sites (St Saviours and St Nicholas’) have only become the one parish within the last six weeks. While change is always tricky, it’s great to be part of this key time in the life of this church.
I had the privilege and joy of sharing in fellowship with God’s people at St Nicholas’ church yesterday morning, including opening up the Bible and preaching on Mark 10:17-31. We saw that eternal life is something we can only receive from Jesus, who calls us to follow him.
The day continued with fellowship, gospel proclamation and shared meals had by all members of the team in one way or another. It was tremendously encouraging to see the fulfillment of Jesus promise in Mark 10:29-30 in sharing fellowship with the brothers & sisters in Christ.
This afternoon we were privileged to sit down with some diocesan representatives from Christchurch and hear about the challenges facing people in Christchurch as they continue to recover after the earthquakes.
– Give thanks for God’s people at St Nicholas’ / St Saviours
– Pray for patience and generosity among the people here as they learn to love each other.
– Give thanks for the opportunities we have had to preach the gospel
– Pray that people would respond to Jesus call to follow him that they might have eternal life.
