The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So to get God into a man’s heart you should be able to go via the same route. Throw in some sports cars and you can get there even faster.
Part Two of Hoxton Park’s Super Saturday of evangelistic events kicked off with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of classic, import, and performance cars carefully squeezing their way through the church’s front doors.
While this was going on, Gabriel from The BBQ Store in Prestons cooked up a pig, a lamb, and countless sausages for us on their spit rotisseries and BBQs.
Terry Tung-Yep from Christians into Cars organised for members to bring their cars out, as well as a lot of friends of church members. There were about 20 cars, ranging from a rare R34 Nissan Godzilla GTR to classic Kombi vans, and a new Porshe 911 Turbo.
About a hundred guys came along to see the cars, eat the meat and talk cars with their friends. This gave us the amazing opportunity to also tell them about Jesus.
Garbiel gave us a run down of the spit roasts that he sells at The BBQ Store and then told us how he grew up believing that he had to be perfect for God to accept him, but through his discussion with a guy from church and through hearing Ephesians 2:8-9, he realised that Jesus’ life, death & resurrection means that God doesn’t measure him by the good things he does.
Matt Borg gave his testimony and David Clarke talked to the us about the offer of eternal life that God gives us, through Jesus, and how we should investigate such a great offer.
Among all of the great conversations that were had, Josh Allen had a conversation with a non-Christian guy called Adix who is training to be a Chartered accountant about what it means to be a Christian. Please pray for Adix and the rest of the men who came along, that they will come to know the love that God offers them.
