Today some of us celebrated Pentecost at a rural church in the Territory. Batchelor is a remote small town, about one hour drive South from Darwin. It has a population of 450 with 49% Indigenous. There is an Indigenous educational institute and St Francis Anglican church is located in the middle of the town.
We learnt about the importance of Pentecost in God’s saving plan through the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, and God poured out his Spirit to all who believe, calling people from every tongue, every tribe and every nation.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:38-39
The local congregation had some good conversations about rural life and church life in NT.
Please pray for a Buddhist neighbour who lives next to the church. The Lord brought him to the church after the service and he had a conversation with a team member about religion and God. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will open his heart to receive the gospel of Christ.
