Mission is off to a great start. We got to gather with our partners in the gospel, Ross River Anglican church, proclaiming the gospel and spending time together.
First off was morning church which is held in a room on the beautiful grounds of the Cathedral school. Sarah K (we have 2 Sarah’s on team – this one has 9 a’s in her name in total!) shared her testimony and then Lindsay preached the gospel to us as he explained the reality of the resurrection – it’s not just a freaky story!
Then was lunch with the church, where we took advantage of the sunny Queensland weather and ate together in a park, enjoying company together and getting to know those who we are joining with in Townsville.
Many are not native to Townsville, and that tells you about the make up of Townsville. It’s a busy place with people coming and going – to and from the uni, the army barracks, the hospital and other job placements. As you can imagine, this makes ministry a challenge, but Ross River Anglican feels vibrant and filled with people who however new they are to Townsville, are excited to get stuck into things. Partnering with them is going to be excellent.
Last order of the day was church with the evening congregation. Meeting in a different location, we were well aware of being in Townsville as mountains loomed in the background. Luke preached on what kind of king Jesus is and we got again got to enjoy spending time with those who are at the church – mainly students and soldiers!
The end of a busy day, but a great start to mission.
