Monday was a prep day, so at most points in the day, you could find a few people feverishly working away at talks or other things they had to do for the week. But that didn’t stop us from getting out there – particularly the women in the team.
Out partnership with Ross River Anglican continued as the women from the team joined a women’s bible study. After studying Romans together, they got to think with them about how to start evangelistic conversations with people. Others in the team had much harder jobs – reading books to children!
A bunch of our team had a great opportunity to have a chat with the Bishop Ray of North Queensland.
We got to hear about the vast needs in North Queensland for the Anglican church – in this huge area of 54 parishes there are only 12 fully funded ministers (with lots of others in more part time roles). Bishop Ray said that the two main challenges that the diocese faces are a low biblical literacy and the difficulty churches face serving their people outside of the sunday gathering. These are familiar challenges that lots of churches face, so it was encouraging to consider how Ross River Anglican is working to meet these challenges. There are many opportunities for people to come to serve in the Anglican church here – if you’re interested, have a chat with Bishop Ray!
After some of the team enjoyed some relaxation at the local pool, the ladies gathered for a dessert night, but more on that in a later post.
