Forster is a beautiful place, some would argue one of the most beautiful towns in the world. As the MTC Forster Mission team have been serving, we have started to fall in love with it’s beauty and slow pace. It’s easy to see why Forster swells to triple it’s population during summer.
However, sometimes it’s the most beautiful places that are the most broken. As we continue to meet more and more people, at church, in the street, at the beach and down at the local bowling club, it has become clear to us that Forster is filled with broken people.
For some it’s a marriage that didn’t turn out the way they hoped, or a retirement that has not gone to plan. For some it’s getting stuck in a town they were only traveling through, for others it’s the insidious effects of alcohol and ice. For some people it’s simply the struggle of life and others it’s living in multi generational poverty and abuse.
As we opened God’s Word as a team this morning, we were reminded of the goodness and the grace of God found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. – Ephesians 2:1-5.
Surrounded by all this brokenness, we were reminded that God has a plan for this brokenness. An eternal plan of redemption; to bring those who are dead in their sins to be made alive in Jesus Christ. Therefore as those who know this life we have the privilege of sharing this goodness with others. So people may go from darkness to light, so people may go from death to life, so people may find salvation in Jesus Christ and begin the journey to healing and restoration.
What a privilege and a joy it is to be is such a beautifully broken place with such a beautiful news of redemption. How beautiful are the feet that bring good news. Please pray for us as we share this good news and pray that God would continue to draw people to himself through the preaching, teaching and sharing of His Word. So that broken people may find Jesus Christ in such a beautiful place.
