It’s been a long, good week of mission. Many songs have been sung (such as Mr Buchanan’s old favourite above), many conversations had and many mistakes made. We hope, pray and trust that God has been working through all these to challenge, encourage and even save those in Port Macquarie.
Here are a few pictures of our team in action, along with a countdown that summarises much of our time here.
10 churches I’ve seen in my week here in Port Macquarie. Small town, but many churches. Apparently, each year there are a few new ones planted and a few that close. Makes consistent service and church unity difficult!
9 faithful Christians at a retirement village Bible study on Wednesday. It was brilliant to share with them some of what God is doing on university campuses in particular, in making and training disciples. A number of them commented that they had no idea any of this was happening, and so were greatly encouraged to hear this news.
8 dollars for our strawberry-picking efforts. Our afternoon off yesterday was well-spent.
7:7. The passage in Matthew we learnt about in our primary school ChristianStudies classes. We saw how God is a generous, loving Father who gives for our good, as is shown most clearly in Jesus’ life and death on our behalf.
6 hours of mens’ and womens’ events. Give thanks for Erin, Jocelyn, Ben and Vincent who spoke clearly; as well as the opportunity for a few irregular church-goers to reconnect.
5 different sports running this afternoon at our uni/church/community sports event. It’s a casual time for good conversations and relationships to be forged.
4 classes of Christian studies was the average daily total. Every student in years 7-10 was covered, with classes in question-answer style, exploring Luke 15, or other concepts.
3 sub-teams. We’ve been working all week in set smaller groups for the classes and assemblies at the various schools. It’s been great to mission closely alongside those in other years at college, getting to know one another well and cooperating as a team.
2 puppets. The primary school kids love the comedy of our felt friends Lisa and Pete, and they really help them interact with the highs and lows of the presentation.
1 day left to go! Pray that the power of the gospel would be shown through Mike, preaching at church, as well as Xerri and An sharing their testimonies.
