Tonight we had a men’s night. People from Ross River Anglican invited their mates along to play bowls, eat some BBQ together and to hear about a Christian view of work.
It was great to get out and play some bowls together – though there was a range of ability reflected in the prizes handed out at the end of the night. Conversation flowed and there was even a little bit of rain. Or as one of the guys described it, some heavy mist.
Luke S from the team reflected with us about work and how this fits with our view of the gospel. Our economy is merit, but God’s is grace. As he spoke, it was clear that every man there was challenged by how we’ve seen our relationship with God. Luke helpfully showed us that instead of trying to do it ourselves, we must put our trust in Jesus. Like we trust the pilots who fly us around, we must trust Jesus. A decisive, active, and ongoing trust.
Please pray that the guys who were there tonight would seek to trust Jesus as their pilot.
Saturday marks our penultimate day in Townsville. Please pray for the team as we gather again with those at Ross River Anglican tomorrow. Pray for Chris and Cam who will be preaching, Rachel who is doing a kid’s spot and for the church and team as we welcome new people to church. Please pray that many visitors would come to church and hear the gospel. And pray that God would be kind and show mercy to those who do not yet know him.
