Straight from morning devotions, we entered a large room filled with the chatter of elderly ladies. They were busy at work. I have never seen such serious devotion to craft! Some of these women have been hardcore crafters for more than 20 years! And even more surprising was that the majority of them aren’t followers of Jesus and not part of church. What an opportunity!
Conversation was a bit of hard work to begin with, but once you get them chatting–especially about their project, their faces light up! Danae and I had the joy (mixed with nerves) of playing and singing for them Amazing Grace. Danae then told her story of the grace of God at work in her life that has given her confidence to sing “Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me”.
While it is hard to tell how much the ladies absorbed, we later heard that Carmen shared her testimony with a lady who hadn’t been apart of church in years. Danae also had the opportunity to invite a lady to church this Sunday for “back to church Sunday” who has been meaning to re-connect with church.
Please continue to pray the women whose hearts are hard toward the gospel that, as they sit under the faithful “drip drip” (as described by one Christian lady) of the ‘God Spot’ talks each week at the group, their hearts would be captured by a Jesus they have never truly known.
Pray for more Christian women to lead the craft groups, and for a missional heart for those who are Christians to see that the harvest is truly plentiful!
