Today we got to go and speak with those in the same position as us – those who study!
A group headed to the Cathedral school, where Chris T spoke about freedom. Around 300 year 10-12 students came and heard about the incredible freedom we have in Christ. Please pray for those who might consider themselves Christian, but don’t yet understand what that means. Pray that they would be challenged to remember how it is Christ and Christ alone who offers salvation, and consider whether they are adding things to the gospel of Jesus which actually detract from the gospel.
While they did that, the rest of the team headed to the University campus to meet with students at their public meeting. Tim from our team warned them not to be ‘damned fools’ like the rich man in Luke 12. He encouraged them not to be overcome by greed, forgetting the God who gives them all good things. It was great to spend time after the talk speaking with the students of the Christian group – JCU Christian Union. They’re a great group who are committed to the gospel, holding it out to the campus and seeking to be shaped by it themselves. Please pray for them as they head into a time of exams, that they would continue to serve Jesus even in stressful and busy times. Also please pray for Tim, Jules and Sarah who work with the student group.
Still to come tonight is a discussion time members of the team get to have with a uni bible study group that meets in the colleges. Chris B will speak to them about the Trinity and then he, Sarah K and Lindsay will field questions from the bible study group about the Trinity. Please pray for Chris as he speaks and for the discussion, that it would be one that is both helpful and glorifies our our Triune God who saves.
