Day 8 was the last day of mission. The day was fantastic: we were up early to attend the 7:30am service, where we mingled with many people who had been praying for us all week and were so encouraging! We then went to the 10:00am family service which was followed by a thanksgiving lunch. Different members of the team were able to share some stories from the week, and together as a whole church and mission team we were able to sing, praising God for what he had done throughout the week, giving him all the glory!
In the afternoon, the church ran a community games afternoon and barbeque in the neighbouring suburb of Thornton. It was an awesome time where we were able to connect with the community more and chat with people who were walking by and were curious. We made heaps of coffee, played games and shared with the community in an early barbeque dinner. We went straight from the community games and BBQ into the 6:30pm service in the community hall. Dan Bishop preached from God’s word for us. He spoke from the second half of Mark chapter 8, asking all of us to follow Jesus. It was a great challenge for visitors and people unsure of where they are at with God, and they were provided with an opportunity to respond to the faithful gospel message.
Please continue to pray for Penrith as they follow up the many visitors that came through their various events during the week!
