Day 4: The team enjoyed a relaxing rainy day off.
Praise God for rest and pray that we will be energised to continue sharing God’s word in Wollongong.
Day 3: While some of the team headed off to nursing homes, playgroups, and ESL classes, the rest of the team was invited to join with Chaplains at The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS). The day started early with cooking and serving hundreds of pancakes to senior students prior to classes. Dan shared his testimony over breakfast. It was encouraging to see students asking Dan questions and to see mission team engaging with students and discussing who “Jesus is….” to them.
Scripture classes were next with the mission team sharing testimonies and helping in year 3, 7, and 9 classes. Among many encouraging responses to Jesus is forgiving, my saviour, my everything, my king, there were also many responses such as Jesus is a stranger, a false hope, and not understandable. Please pray for these students that those who know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour will continue to grow and mature in Him and that those who are still searching, unsure, or questioning the evidence for Christ will continue to ask questions and come to know Him.
Lunchtime saw the whole primary school of 300 plus students come together for an outdoor picnic. Laurie gave an awesome talk on “Jesus is the bread of life” which was followed by games lead by some of the other mission students.
The senior school was treated to free donuts and milkshakes over lunch followed by live music from the mission team.
Overall, our day at TIGS was fantastic. Please continue praying for the chaplains as they continue to teach the gospel and as they follow students up after many good conversations.
The team had a late lunch and a team meeting with Leigh Roberts, the senior minister at Bulli Anglican church. It was very encouraging to hear about Leigh’s experience in full-time ministry, his excitement for evangelism, and touching to hear more about his personal journey with Christ. Praise God for the faithful work of His servant Leigh.
The day ended with many of the mission team attending bible studies and events at their individual churches.
