We’re here! (Day 1)
It’s hard to ignore the natural beauty of this region as we drove down from Sydney in the glorious sunshine! Our great Creator God’s beautiful work was on display for all to see!
Our team of four met up together again at the morning service at Vincentia Public School, where the fans were working hard to keep the parishioners cool. Jack had arrived the night before to be well-rested to preach to the 8:30 service. He preached an evangelistic sermon from Luke 7:37-50, showing how forgiveness leads to love, and how Jesus wants to forgive sins. He preached the same sermon at all three services as the launch to their “Jesus is ____” campaign.
We were welcomed warmly by the community, and the Word was received with much joy. The church has been building up to this Sunday for the past few months, and there were visitors in the service who clearly heard the gospel proclaimed. We had the opportunity to have lunch with Ray Goldman, the minister for the parish who has been here for 20+ years, where we got to ask him our questions, and hear from his wisdom of being the only minister at a remote parish for many years.
For Your Prayers:
- Praise God for Jack’s faithful preparation and for the many who heard of the forgiveness Jesus offers. Pray that God would save through the power of his Spirit convicting their hearts.
- Pray for Ray as he continues to shepherd this flock, and that they would be shaped by the gospel.
- Pray for the congregation to get behind these opportunities, to invite friends, neighbours and family to hear the good news of Jesus
