And so another mission is almost underway. Sermon scripts have been scrawled on in workshops, Sunday school craft supplies have been purchased and leaflets and tracts have been printed.
We’ve been schooled in the demography, community values and points of contact in Eastwood. For some of the team it has meant a little brushing up on their Mandarin or Cantonese. For others it has meant making friends with those brushing up.
There is still a yawning gap between what we know about the lost in Eastwood and what we hope to achieve among them and this can fill us with trepidation.
Yet when Mission Eve draws to a close, we will sleep easy. For the LORD gives sleep to the one he loves. We will rise refreshed and travel from Newtown to Eastwood knowing that the mission’s success is not contingent upon our efforts
‘Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the LORD watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain.’ — Psalm 127:1
Praise the LORD that he is watching over Eastwood this week.
