Here’s my favourite moments from our extraordinary week in Mulgoa. Thank you to the Saints of St Thomas’ Mulgoa and Christ Church at the College. You are a great encouragement.

1. John O’Marshall’s St Patrick’s Day Sermon.
Attending Christ Church at the College on the first day of mission, we had a very friendly welcome and an amusing communication mix-up. The conversation went something like this:
Me: “Good morning my name’s Andy – how are you?”
Bloke: “Good morning. Are you the Irishman who will be preaching to us this morning?”
Me: “I’m afraid not. The preacher is there” [I point to Jono Marshall]
Bloke: “John O’Marshall doesn’t look very Irish”
Me: “No, he doesn’t.”
It was a great sermon even without an Irish accent.
2. Snakes
Loved these signs at St Thomas’, Mulgoa. Didn’t see a snake though.
3. A heart-breaking story from door knocking
Darryl and Jono knocked on a door and met a couple with a sick 1 year old son. Not wanting to intrude, they left a leaflet and carried on to the next house. A few houses later, the mother ran down the road and asked the guys to pray for their son who, it turned out, had cancer. They prayed for the boy and returned a few days later with a teddy bear a card from St Thomas’.
Please pray for this little boy and his parents.

5. The Cricket Match
My billets (Adrian and Suzy) hosted a cricket match at their place. They have a wicket on their front lawn and Adrian heads-up the Mulgoa Cricket Club (The MCC). With just 9 players, including one incompetant englishman and one very competant Canadian, Michael Jensen led the Moore College team to a resounding victory.
6. Mo College Bible Study
To train the Mulgoa Youth Group not to overlook the unusual things in a bible passage, we all donned fake mos for the study.
7. School assemblies.
We shared the news of Jesus’ death and resurrection with 400 kids in 6 assemblies at 5 schools over 2days. We sang and danced, taught the bible and celebrated that “Jesus isn’t here, God has raised him to life. Matthew 28:6”.
8. Homework help club
Every Tuesday afternoon 30 kids come and get some help with their homework and learn a bit about Jesus. A great example of connecting with the local community.
9. Matt Oliffe
Love this guy. It was a privilege to see Matt Oliffe in action. He works so hard for the Gospel and makes the most of every conversation and every opportunity. I look forward to seeing what the Lord does with the seeds this brother has planted.
A lovely way to say goodbye and affirm our partnership in the Gospel.

1. Funnel-web hunting.
Ignoring my protests, a couple of the youth group wanted to show me a Sydney funnel-web.
There was either no one at home or they were just teasing me by putting a stick in a random hole. I suspect the latter
