Today we got to meet the church at Holy Trinity Kingsford and get a feel for the suburb. Located just south of UNSW the area has both older residents and young uni students, and a variety of ethnicities.
Here are some photos from the first afternoon: (more details about the morning church services to come!)
In the afternoon the Moore team and a group of HTK members got together and knocked on doors to invite people to Easter events. After several knock-backs (with varying degrees of friendliness), Ben (above) and I met a lady (J) who seemed quite glad to meet us and keen to come to visit the church. We’ll see what happens. Anna also met a lady who was interested in re-connecting with the church, which was encouraging in the midst of some other tricky door-knocking conversations.
Behind the scenes, door knocking is great not only for meeting people in the local community but also for getting to know those who you go door-knocking with! Students may spend time not only outreaching but also sharpening each other during these afternoons. #behindmooremission
Please pray that God would soften the hearts of many people in the local community at Kingsford, and that He would give us and the church at HTK wisdom in knowing how to best reach out to them.
