Moore College values your financial support and partnership with us. In fact, without it we wouldn’t be able to do many of the things we currently do to support faculty development, our scholarship program, and the replacement of John Chapman House to accommodate many of our single and married students. We’ve seen God’s goodness in the faithfulness of our supporters who pray and give in an ongoing way. This has included substantial gifts (including bequests) to the College for specific projects. This gift will allow the College to allocate the funds to the most urgent funding priorities, which include Student Scholarships and the need for new student accommodation to replace John Chapman House.

Scholarships are awarded based on the decisions of the Scholarships Committee of the Moore College Foundation. Unless specifically indicated otherwise in the terms, scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, merit and/or the applicant’s mission/ministry potential.

While we continue to have needs for the funding, maintenance, repair and development of our varied property portfolio, our major focus for the next two years will be our Capital Campaign. We hope to raise $20 million to replace John Chapman House with modern accommodation for single and married students.

This fund exists to support Indigenous students to study at Moore. Moore has had very few Indigenous students in its history and our aim is to have a minimum of three Indigenous students in full-time courses on campus at all times.

The International Student Fund offers postgraduate and undergraduate scholarships for the growing need for global church leaders. The majority of international students who join us at Moore return to varied ministries in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America, primarily as preachers or missionaries.

The Regional Australia Student Fund provides scholarships to students from regional Australia, or training to serve in regional ministries. Chief amongst the needs of regional churches is the need for well-trained men and women to minister in our regions and rural towns.

The Student Support Fund helps to provide students with additional support, particularly for living expenses. All funds raised are pooled and distributed to the selected students based on budgeted needs in accordance with the relevant guidelines determined by the College.

The fund was founded in 2020 due to a donation from a family supportive of Moore College and university ministry. It seeks to support international students to attend Moore College who have been involved in Christian ministry (including AFES), and who are seeking further theological education to equip them for ministry and leadership.

The Overseas DBT Scholarship program provides 75% of the fees payable for each successful recipient for the 8 subjects within the Diploma of Biblical Theology. Recipients must be overseas students not resident in Australia, engaging in ministry in their home country, or preparing for a specific ministry role.

We have been blessed through the bequests of a number of supporters over the years. Major gifts at the end of life have been of great importance to the College. In fact, Moore College began as the result of a bequest. When Thomas Moore passed away in 1840, he gifted a large portion of his estate to the establishment of a theological college in Sydney. Moore Theological College was opened in 1856 with three students and one tutor. Since then, more than 6,000 students have graduated from accredited courses and now over 5,000 students are studying Moore College courses in over 50 different countries. 180 years after this initial bequest, we’d like to ask you to prayerfully consider joining this important ministry through making your own bequest to Moore College. If you wish to consider this as a way to support the work it would be good for you to have a conversation with Trevor Cairney as the Head of Foundation before adding Moore College to your will. In this way, we could help you to identify how you would like to make the gift and for what purpose.

The suggested wording for bequests follows. Note that these words may be varied and made more specific depending on the wishes of the donor. If doing so, it would be good to have someone check the wording with the Head of Foundation if in any doubt.

(words or figures for a $ amount), or ………………………. (words or figures for a %) percentage of my estate, to Moore Theological College Council for the general purposes (or specific purpose) of the college, and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer of the College Council shall be a full and sufficient discharge to the executor.

Prayer Support Group

The Prayer Support Group is a group of women from all over Sydney that meets together to pray for the needs of the College, its faculty, students and staff.  We are always looking for new women to join us as we express our dependence on God for all things. It is a joy to hear about how God is working in the lives of our students and their families and to find out firsthand how we can best pray for college and its faculty, students and staff. Men’s Prayer Breakfasts

Twice a year, Moore College also runs a prayer breakfast for men. It is an opportunity to fellowship over breakfast, hear from a speaker, and pray for the needs for the College. We want to invite all men to come along and pray for the faculty, students and staff. See when the next Men’s Prayer Breakfast is on.

Prayer Points

Moore College knows the importance and imperative of prayer to God’s work at the college. The College has a number of ongoing ways by which prayer and praise points are circulated for prayer supporters to use for their individual or group prayers, including through PrayerMate. A Quarterly Prayer Bulletin publication is produced which you can receive by email.

1/3 – Ask that our students would develop good habits of Bible reading and prayer. 
2/3 – Pray for the Registrar’s Department as they prepare for the graduation ceremony coming up in the next few weeks. 
3/3 – Give thanks for those speaking at the Centre for Christian Living (CCL) event on Christian Community tonight. 
4/3 – Pray for energy and patience for those in our community who have to balance care for elderly relatives, and young families. 
5/3 – For those in secular work from our College community, pray that opportunities to witness to others would arise. 
6/3 – Thank God for the work of the cleaning team at College, and for their dedication and presence on campus throughout the last twelve months. 
7/3 – Praise God for the opportunity that College students have to teach SRE scripture in two local schools. 
8/3 – Give thanks for the appointment of Chris Conyers as our new part-time faculty member. Ask that God would sustain him as he gets used to all that his new role entails. 
9/3 – Praise God for the generosity of our many supporters that has enabled scholarships to be awarded to students requiring assistance. 
10/3 – Pray for the many churches in Sydney, Armidale and Maitland who will be holding College missions this year. 
11/3 – Ask that our students would be open to having their convictions challenged and shaped. 
12/3 – Pray for those amongst the Faculty who, alongside their teaching and pastoring of students, have writing commitments to fulfill. 
13/3 – Give thanks to God for those visitors attending our Library Day today.

15/3 – Pray in thanks for all those students graduating College tonight. Pray that it would be an encouraging night as the word of God is proclaimed. 
16/3 – Give thanks for the wide variety of ministries our graduates have taken up, and pray that they might lovingly serve God’s people. 
17/3 – Pray for fruitful preparations for the upcoming Mission week. 
18/3 – Give thanks for the opportunity for students to focus on prayer, during today’s Day of Prayer for Missions. 
19/3 – Ask that God would cultivate hearts of gratitude in our students, faculty and staff. 
20/3 – Pray for those in our community who are parenting children, that they would be wise as they disciple them. 
21/3 – Ask for safety for those travelling to different locations for the College Mission Week. 
22/3 – Ask that God would be transforming our students as they reflect daily on God’s word.
