On Tuesday, the Moore Mission team did a skit at five Scripture assemblies which followed Detective Dave’s quest to find out “Who is Jesus?” After searching all around Clovelly, Detective Dave went to Clovelly and Bronte Public Schools to try and find the answer.
With help from Mr Edge (a puppet), Dave found out that Jesus is really important because he was born at the first Christmas, he’s really powerful because he can control the weather and he has power over death, and he wants us to follow him. After making many wrong conclusions (that Jesus must be Santa Claus, the weather man, and Harry Potter), Dave eventually found the right answer: Jesus is a king and he wants us to follow him.
The team worked really hard on Monday, practising and learning lines, and all the hard work paid off. They did a fantastic job and the kids were really engaged with the skit. There was plenty of slapstick humour (including one character who got his head stuck in a toaster!) and the kids loved the puppet. Every time Mr Edge spoke, they burst out in laughter.
Also, as Dave kept giving the wrong answers to the question “Who is Jesus?”, the kids were shouting out the right answers. “Jesus is God’s Son!” “Jesus was born at the first Christmas, not Santa.” We were all really pleased to see how interested the kids were and that they had some good understanding of who Jesus is—kudos to the regular Scripture teachers at Clovelly and Bronte Public Schools!
As part of the Scripture assembly, the team also taught a memory verse based on Mark 8:27-29 teaching that Jesus is the King, played a game with kids and sung “10, 9, 8, God is great!”
Please pray
Across the five assemblies, more than 100 kids heard the message that Jesus is the King and he wants us to follow him. We also invited the kids to St Luke’s big community event this Saturday, Fun in the Park, and handed out invitations for them to take home to give to their parents. Please pray for these kids:
- Pray that God would have mercy on the kids and bring them into his family.
- Pray that the kids pass on the invitation to Fun in the Park to their parents and that many families come along.
- Pray for good weather for Fun in the Park on Saturday.
