Fairy lights. Delicious dessert. A woman with a terrible illness. The joy of certainty. What have these things to do with one another?
They all came together at the women’s dessert night that the church put on last night. In a beautiful venue overlooking rock pools in downtown Townsville, people ate incredible desserts together and spoke about certainty (or the frustrating lack thereof) in life. Women from the church invited friends and there was a great turn out of invited friends. One lady was surprised to see a work colleague who had been invited by another member of the church!
Bec, the wife of Scott (minister at Ross River Anglican), shared her testimony and a member of our team, Sarah, spoke about uncertainty in life. She helpfully engaged people as she shared about the uncertainty we all have in relationships. Looking at the women with a seemingly incurable illness in Luke 8, Sarah showed that Jesus brings certainty of healing, forgiveness, and a restored relationship with God.
Jesus brings certain life to a dying and uncertain world.
Please praise God for all who came to hear about the joy of certainty we have in Christ. One of those invited remarked that it was the first time that she had heard something like that about Jesus. Others picked up gospels and books about Jesus on their way out. Please pray for these women as they are followed up by their friends who invited them. Please also thank God for those who organised the event and all the hard work they put in.
